Culinary Creations at Bistro Vonish Food Truck

June 12, 2015 by Jillian Leave a Comment

The beautiful creation you see above is from the delicious food truck in Austin, Texas called Bon Vonish, run by the very talented Chef Craig. The menu changes daily, based on what local and seasonal ingredients are available, and everything is vegan and often gluten free. Appetizers, side dishes, main course, brunch, desserts – this food truck has it all. And Craig does a wonderful job of showcasing the beauty and versatility of plant based dishes with his unique touch.

On the rainy day my friend and I visited, there was comfort food (mac & cheese), kolaches, pizza, salad, a chocolate mousse pie, and more! There’s something for everyone, vegan and non-vegan alike. What I like about Bistro Vonish is that anyone can enjoy it regardless of their food lifestyle. It’s tasty, filling, healthy, and each dish looks like a piece of art!

The margherita pizza was super colorful and almost too pretty to eat. I loved the juicy tomatoes, the garlic, basil, and splotches of mozzarella cheese. The mac and cheese was gluten free and dense with cheesy goodness. No one would ever know it was vegan!

The Kohlrabi & Celeriac Salad was entirely refreshing with celery greens, tarragon oil, walnuts, and a generous topping of nutritional yeast. I washed everything down with Buddha’s Brew Peach Mint Kombucha, which was delish.

I totally wanted to try the Roasted Peach with Blackberry Kolache and the Mousseline Chocolate Pie but I was stuffed. All that was left of our meal was one slice of pizza, which my friend readily volunteered to finish off.

What’s even more completely awesome about Bistro Vonish is that 2 happy pigs named Raul and Olive live right behind it, and they love having visitors that will bring them their leftovers. Even though it was raining, I was not about to let that stop me from cooing over pigs and feeding them my pizza crust. So here’s a bunch of pictures of cute pigs!

If the incredible food isn’t enough incentive, then Raul and Olive definitely are 🙂

Check out Bistro Vonish at 3111 Manor Road, Austin TX 78723 (behind Brass Ovaries). They’re open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 12-8, Friday & Saturday 12-9, and Sunday 12-5. Closed Tuesdays.

A brick and mortar restaurant is already in the works. In the meantime, go to the food truck and say hi to Craig, Olive, Raul, and chow down on Bistro Vonish’s cruelty-free creations.
