I’ve been to almost every corner of Texas and I have lots of favorite places in this great big state. One of my recent favorites is the little known Beaumont Botanical Gardens, located in historic Tyrrell Park. The park contains the gardens, a conservatory, banquet hall, horse stables, golf course, walking trail and a marsh with a boardwalk 🐎🌷⛳️
To see my photos of the lovely gardens, check out my post on the Beaumont Botanical Gardens. This week’s post is all about the conservatory and the awesome marsh. Below are my favorite photos of these extremely peaceful, beautiful places ☮
Warren Loose Conservatory is one of the largest conservatories in a public garden in Texas at 10,000 square feet. Most of the plants inside are common to tropical areas and rain forests. There’s a small waterfall and a Koi pond, and the conservatory is very kid friendly with fun dinosaur statues and decorations. My favorite part is the orchids because they are so stinkin’ gorgeous.
If you leave the conservatory parking lot and drive deeper into the park, past the golf course and the horse stables, you will see a sign for Cattail Marsh. These scenic wetlands include more than 250 species of birds annually, and it’s a great place to take photos or walk along the 8 miles of gravel levee roads. The main attraction is the new boardwalk that was built this year, and it looks like they are continuing to expand the area.
If you go during the day, especially in the summer when people don’t want to be sweltering outside, the marsh will empty and quiet. You can watch the birds and look for alligators 🐊😁
And there you have it. Just proves you can find the most beautiful things in the most unexpected places. If you ever find yourself in southeast Texas or you already live there(!) check out this gem of a park and explore your heart out.
